“Innovation has become a lazy industry word."

In episode 28 I had the great opportunity to talk to Mario Van Der Meulen living in Singapore as Head of CX at Tribal Worldwide. Previously he was Principal Designer Foolproof and Creative Director at Frog Shanghai.

We sat together at UX India where both of us gave a talk and workshop. He is also the author of the book “Counterintuitivity - Making Meaningful Innovation”.

We talk about his inspiring journey as a designer starting in Belgium and gaining work experience in Asia - as well as his transition from Graphic Design to Customer Experience and UX Design.

He also shares insights from his book: principles of innovation and how to embrace counterintuitive thinking. Mario shares stories of projects and challenges where he was able to drive a positive impact through counter-intuitive thinking and by having a human-centred design lens.

Besides that, we also learn how to challenge your assumptions in the design process and discover opportunities for innovation.

This episode is in collaboration with uxindiaconf (ux-india.org) UX INDIA. More episodes from the UX India and Interaction 20 in Milan in the pipeline.
